Retinal detachment: It sounds like there was a detachment of the center good vision of the retina called the macula. Repair ~ 7-10 days after has the same outcome in the literature as within 48 hours once the macula is detached. 90%-95% success rate of reattachnent with 60-80 % of patients averaging 20/60 or better vision at 3 months after surgery. Great vision considering the retina was detached. Good luck.
