LASIK: The risk of blindness after lasik is infinitely small. The worst possible complication with lasik is infection which is rare and it is even more rare that corneal scarring after treatment would cause decreased vision. Lasik is the safest and most common elective surgery performed in the U.S.

Possible, not likely: Any eye surgery can result in loss of vision if poorly done, complicated or if aftercare is not adequate. Lasik demands proper patient selection. Not everyone is a good candidate. The incidence of poor outcome in present day lasik is very, very low and the outcomes are generally excellent!
