A member asked:

I have been consuming whey protein for about 4-5 months along with regular workout but now i see my fat has not reduced, should i discontinue whey?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Excess calories?: When we take in more calories than we burn, the excess calories are stored as fat, regardless of whether they come from carbohydrate protein or fat. Adding whey to a diet without reducing calories elsewhere can result in weight gain w increased fat %. Looking at weight alone, a stable weight with a new exercise program + whey may occur, but fat is being replaced w muscle. Belt size may go down.
