Other cause?: While vitamin D deficiency is an important contributor to pain problems including back pain, it often isn't the only or even principle cause. Taking 50,000 IU units of D3 weekly for 3 months should have corrected her deficiency; her doctor can check a blood test. But other causes including degenerative arthritis or spinal stenosis likely account for the back pain. Take her in for a recheck:)

Ok...: Vit D maintains bone health. It will not relieve back pain because of already damaged bone or ligaments. Give her Calcium, naproxen, Local heat, massage....she is too young to have serious problems. Hope she is not a vegetarian...if so she needs Vit B12.
