Talk 2 Your Surgeon: From my experience, hernias do not cause much pain unless intestine is incarcerated ("stuck"); this should cause nausea, vomiting, bloating, & a non-reducible, tender hernia. If this is present, emergency surgery is necessary. If the pain is severe & the hernia is reducible, i would question the origin of the pain.

Yes : To make sure the hernia did not get incarcerated , ( viscera bowel did not get into hernia sac and got stuck inside ) call your surgeon and go to er , some times need emergency surgery.
