Varies : It varies somewhat, but in general a pinched nerve cause pain at the site it is pinched to a variable degree and then pain along the specific distribution of the nerve. For example, pinching the L 5 nerve root on the right causes pain that runs down the back of the thigh, outside of leg, and the top of foot.
