Yes: This skin test uses parts of the killed protozoan parasite. However it is only useful in cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis. If you have suspicion of visceral leishmaniasis(systemic) the test is useless and cannot detect internal disease. Serologic testing using Elisa or IFA can be useful.
