A member asked:

Subtle fatty marrow infiltration in the anterior body at c2,& c3 without fracture seen on m.r.i?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Inflammation=1 cause: Vertebral bone marrow can develop fatty tissue as we get older, also can from inflammation/disease of surrounding tissues,eg. from disk disease(degenerating or herniated disk)or slippage of a vertebra over the one below. Other causes of inflammation exist,so this list mustn't be used to diagnose you, as the reason for the study and your underlying conditions would guide interpretation of your MRI.
