Not a lot: Both of these therapy models are similar and work at interpreting information in a more realistic manner. The one that works for you is the best one. Research has shown that it is less the technique than the therapist-patient relationship that is important.

Hope this clarifies: Agree that there is overlap between the two.DBT may be best thought of as form of CBT, which focuses on how thoughts influence feelings and behavior. DBT adds a host of emotional regulation and coping skills, and especially focuses on interpersonal difficulties.Both are equally effective in the hands of a skilled provider, and which one should be determined by assessment/presenting problems/goals.
