Did u jam it? : Do you remember falling on it for hitting it or dropping something on the toe? Sounds like you will need to have some to examine you. And urging care or your primary care doctor should be able to help. Good luck

Capsulitis etal.: It appears that what ever is going on, it is increasing in severity. It went form hurting to stiffness in one day. I'm sure you would remember a gross traumatic injury to your toe, so that type of injury is improbable. Probably a more low grade, injury is to blame. The unique anatomy of the second toe and metatarsal lends to these type of symptoms. If no improvement soon, then have it evaluated.
