A 45-year-old member asked:

what percentage of your health is influenced by lifestyle choices versus genetics?

Not that simple: There are many, many aspects of our health. If a person had an inherited health condition - then genetics might play a very big part in expression of that condition. However, many other aspects of that same person's health may be dictated by their lifestyle (sleep, food, vitamins/ minerals/ exercise, etc.)

Not sure...: ...what you mean. If it's a questionnaire provided by a health professional as part of a genetic assessment, just ask the person who gave it to you to clarify the questions. They will be glad to help.

I wanted to know is being sterile a genetic trait?

No: It is not genetic. If it were genetic, you would not exist. It can be congenital (happens at birth just to you) or acquired (happens later on).
A 32-year-old member asked:

What happens if you have certain genetics of asians are you part asian?

Probably: Genetic ancestry testing looks at how an individuals genetics may compare across ethnic backgrounds. Genetic alterations in the Y-chromosome, Mitochondrial DNA and Single base pair changes (SNPs). These are compared to registry databases. If you have genetic traits of Asians it means that you have Asian ancestry. How you define being part Asian is more of a personal question then a genetic one
Dr. Richard Roberts

Yes--my answer was more from a clinical genetics standpoint. There are these reliable tests for genetic ancestry testing. Caucasians have been found to have Neanderthal genes, whereas black Africans are more "pure" to our original ancestors--with no Neanderthal gene markers..
