Can using an electric sonic toothbrush be bad if you have gum recession? i have a considerable amount of recession on the lower teeth, but not periodontal disease, and was told it was genetics, as my gum health is good - minus the recession?

At your age some recession is normal, but not considerable recission. Hereditary thin, fragile, or insufficient gingival tissue predisposes one to gingival recession. An electric sonic toothbrush is fine to use but make sure you have a soft or extra soft brush and use with not a lot of pressure. Use a Waterpik before or after you brush.
