A member asked:

I have all the health risk for having osteoporosis ,small frame bones ,hypothyroidism and genetics my mother has it , does it means i'll have it too?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A bone density test: would tell. If you have bone pains now, get it done now. If not, wait until you enter menopause. In women, osteoporosis becomes an issue the years after the have entered menopause. As of age 60 a bone density scan is typically covered under insurance, before that if you have risk factors. Your family doctor will be able to tell based on your history.
