How do you dispose of needles properly?

Sharps container: Needles need to be placed into a sharps container. You can likely buy one at a surgical supply store. Or you can put them into a metal can like a coffee can, needle point down, cover them with the lid of the can and bring them to a pharmacy for disposal.
