Since needles : Are a necessary part of life, working through would be important. Suggest you find a therapist in your area who does cognitive behavioral therapy. Take care.

Needles come in all shapes and sizes and have many uses. the guage of the needle maybe an issue. That changes depending on the use. You might want to ask for the thinnest needle possible to be used. Sometimes they can use a smaller one. Depending on the reason, you can use this cream: "Emla cream" which numbs the skin, and you won't know that they are doing anything if you don't look
