Short term pain: Tkr is a very good option if your knee arthritis keeps you from activity that you want to do. Recovery is fairly quick and you should expect to have fairly normal activity in 2-3 months. As long as the surgery goes well you should not expect any disability after recovery.

Many: Short-pain, stiffness, weakness, instability, DVT , pe, infection, loosening, patellofemoral problems, and others. Long term-same, plus loosening . Management is too complicated to answer. That being said results are generally good. Anyone can become permanently disabled before or after surgery. Depends on alot of issues.
