Calculus: If you're talking about the hardened deposits on the lingual side of your lower teeth, it's called calculus (tartar). It needs to be scraped off with specialized dental instruments. You probably have more where you can't see, so it's best to visit a local dentist for a thorough exam and cleaning. Left untreated, the bacteria can cause gum disease.

See a dentist: The white stuff on your teeth is plaque. Brush your teeth twice a day to remove plaque from tooth surfaces and protect your teeth from decay. Also visit your dentist at least twice a year for professional cleanings and oral exams.
