Coughing blood: A cough which produces blood may come from one of two sources. It may simply be blood which drains from the nasal passages down the back of the throat or may be originating in the lungs themselves. Often associated with bronchitis or inflammation, however hirmoptysis or coughing blood should be evaluated by your physician in either case.
