Baby slept 9 hrs woke up a few times crying when she lost paci or when she hit the rails of the crib. would that still count as sleep through night?

Yes: No one, infant or adult will sleep continuously without cycling thru a semi- alert phase.As adults we (hopefully) doen't come to full alertness and just roll over and settle back to sleep.Babies usually have one good 4 hr stretch followed by 45-60 min cycles for the rest of their sleep.These periods of fussing often occur in light to very deep sleep.
