Cold sores: are common.About 80 percent of the population has been exposed to them though not everyone exposed breaks out with the cold sore.Odds are you probably have been exposed or had them yourself.Your baby is somewhat protected by any antibodies you passed on. Even though they are contagious, they usually require close personal contact, skin to skin, like kissing. Also,not every lip lesion is HSV.
