While there are many reports of allergic reactions to chia seed found on the internet, i was unable to find a scientific medical article in pubmed.Gov (national library of medicine) to confirm this. If a person has experienced a reaction after eating chia seeds, they should seek consultation with an allergist.

Yes: It is a seed and can definitely cause some allergic reactions. It just depends on what the reactions are. I do not believe the allergist would be able to test you for this unless you bring in the chia seed and he/she makes a slurry from the actual product to test.
