If iv had substance abuse tendencies in the past, but still need help with adhd, what meds are my best option? my doctor just put me on ritalin (methylphenidate)

Non-stimulant meds: Like strattera, (atomoxetine) Intuniv or capvay carry no risk of abuse & are not dopamine-enhancing. If your drugs of choice were methamphetamine or cocaine, giving you Ritalin or Adderall is like putting chocolate in my refrigerator - way too tempting! tell your prescribing physician about your past substance abuse.
