No: You an antibiotic would be warranted if you had an infection like a cellulitis. Swelling is not necessarily an infection. Also, if a cellulitis was present cuprous would be a bad choice as it has no gram positive coverage. Antibiotics should be used judiciously not indiscriminately.

No: You should only start an antibiotic as potent as Cipro (ciprofloxacin) under the direction of a physician. Have your doc evaluate the swelling first.
