A member asked:

Leg wound which had surgical debridement 2 weeks ago. i now have an infection; swab identified the pathogen as being acinetobacter baumannii. the surgeon prescribed 10 day course of ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day. i am not sure it's working. ?

Be patient : This may be a chronic problem which by definition will take a long time (weeks) to resolve. There are many factors that slow healing (circulation, nutrition, cleanliness of the wound, and more). Progress is measured in centimeters or inches over time. Occasionally you may need antibiotics but that’s not what will heal the wound. Some wound care enters use hyperbaric oxygen in some cases. Good luck
