Itch: You don't really give us much to go with here. If the itch just started, maybe it is a reaction to something. If it is for more than 2-3 days, get checked out by a doctor.

If i ----: List is so long and still may not know, take zyrtec (cetirizine) for 7--10 days , cool showers , if still persists see an m.D , might be stress or allergis ( not always).

Generalized itch: Step one, stop all medications and suppliments (ask your md before stopping any prescription meds) step two: stop all chemical exposures to topical lotions ; creams, and get a new non-fragranced body soap and change to an unfragranced detergent (all-free etc.) avoid dryer sheets of softeners as well. It this does not help, see a pcp or and allergist.

Depends: If it is on the skin - and the skin is well taken care of then some hydrocortisone. If you have itching all over, it may be a reaction to some allergan and you should see a physician about that.

Itching: They causes are numerous, use a moisturizer if your skin is dry and if not, see your doctor for a proper work up.
