Albuterol: If the child has respiratory problems and the doctor prescribed them for the child, it is safe to believe that they are safe. Albuterol itself does not cause asthma. Mucus can contribute to cough, wheeze and shortness of breath.

As prescribed: Never use this or any medication if it is not prescribed for your child and he is under close observation. Albuterol like any medication has side effects and may decrease potassium in the blood and may increase your heart rate to much. Also remember babies can not mobilize secretions well and you must suction the nose with saline drops. If the baby has any sign of difficulty breathing, go to er.
