A member asked:

Is there a chance of survival in coma cause by astma, it's more than a week now.

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Yes: Asthma attacks can be very serious and the lungs, and entire body, can be stunned and traumatized. It takes time to fully recover, so keep thinking positive and always ask the doctors what they are doing, giving and expectations.

Asthma: In order for asthma to cause coma, it had to be a severe attack which involved low oxygen levels in the blood for a period of time. Survival is not usually the concern if the person made it to the hospital on time to be resuscitated. The bigger question often is what degree of function will remain when and if they arouse from this comatose state if the coma is not being artificially created.
