Depression common: Low mood, decrease in energy, easy tiredness, anger and irritability with loss or pleasure in previously pleasurable activities can happen in depression. Discuss with him and get him to his pcp first who can diagnose and treat depression, its very treatable.

Maybe. : Irritability, withdrawal and loss of motivation are typical symptoms of medical depressive disorder. These symptoms need to be present for at least six months. Other sx include sadness, feelings of worthlessness, lassitude, inattention, sleep disruption, sluggishness.
