It is not a proven: treatment. Ask your doctor for a referral to a psychologist &/or to a psychiatrist to evaluate your condition, as well as to consider medication. You should not have to suffer with depression and anxiety. A therapist can help you start figuring out what is bothering you and start finding ways to cope better with the challenges in life.

SAM-e: I have had some patients benefit from SAM-e, especially for mild depression and pain. It doesn't do much for anxiety. It's rather expensive. The therapeutic dose is considered to be 800 to 1600 mgs/day. It is not FDA approved, meaning it has not been shown to be safe or effective. There are much better treatments available. Finally, just because something is natural, does not mean it is safe. :-)
