Comprehensive Ex.: A comprehensive core strengthening program will help you achieve your goals. This should include planks, abdominal crunches done both straight up and with twisting. Also include lower back extention exercise. You also need to focus on cardiovascular fitness so that you can achieve a low body fat percentage.

Big picture: The key is diet -- eat enough protein, but beyond this, only what you need to keep hunger truly at bay, and resolve to be hungry much of the day. It's worth it. Train your abs by any exercise you know -- I suggest cable pulls as they provide much more resistance than endless crunches. Best wishes.

You do really ???: If you are ready for some work it is possible at any age. At 48 you may find it a bit much. Beyond the exercise you will need to drop your body fat content to the 5-8% range. If you are an average Joe at 15-20% that means dropping 10% of your weight in fat. If you have a muffin top at 25% that means 20%. You can pick up any ab routine on U-tube, but the work will come with your diet/weight loss.
