I could...: Perhaps she also injured her lumbar spine which can cause her leg numbness. She needs to have her nerves checked by a neurologist.

Not likely: No it is quite unlikely especially as i deduct that the numbness is in her both legs. She should be see by the doctor vest a neurologist to exclude peripheral neuropathy that can have multiple reasons. Hope she does not have diabetes.
