If the lump has: been there since birth, it is unlikely to be causing the problem. If you have pain underneath your rib, then you need to work with your family physician or Internal medicine to find out if you need further studies like Xrays or CTs to evaluate if the pain is related to blood clots, scar tissue, or muscle or cartilage strain.
