A member asked:

Could a large renal cyst (5cm) be causing my lower back pain? if so, what are my options and what doctor do i need to see?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible, unlikely: If your renal cyst was found incidentally and not because of symptoms then it is probably not related to your low back pain. Generally renal cysts don't cause low back pain since they are not really near your low back. They might cause flank (side) pain. You would see a nephrologist to evaluate your cyst. I would suggest a spine physiatrist or orthopaedic spine surgeon to evaluate your low back.
