Unlikely: In skilled hands, major complications are exceedingly unlikely. Although it is possible for something to go wrong, loss of eyesight would be an extreme case. Check the credentials of your lasik doctor and realize that any surgery has some risk but overall it is a highly successful procedure.

Rarely: The risks and benefits of lasik should be explained by your ophthalmologist. Most complications can be corrected. There are some circumstances where permanent vision loss can occur but they are very rare.
