Adjustments: Proper treatment of type 1 dm involves more than just insulin. Your husband needs to take this disease seriously and make some adjustments to maintain proper diet and exercise routine as well. I recommend seeing a dietician to learn what he should and shouldn't eat.

Ive been doing a very low carb diet for a long time now I eat protein and fats and all my blood tests and electrolytes have been good. I get severe muscle cramps all over my body everytime i do physical activity. Can very low carb diet cause this?
