?diverticulitis: Diverticulitis commonly causes left lower abdominal pain, sometimes exacerbated by a bowel movement. You should see a doctor if it has lasted longer than a few days or if it is severe and limiting your daily activities.. There are other causes as well and you may require a ct scan or colonoscopy to help sort them out.
