Finger fracture: Your daughter has a fracture (broken bone) in the thumb. It needs to be splinted and immobilized so that the bones are aligned properly. No gym or sports until cleared by orthopedics. She should see an orthopedist who will monitor the healing. Typical splint time is 4 weeks.

Splinting: Or possibly a cast for 3-4 weeks if it is not angulated or displaced.
