Surgery norms: This is an interesting question. The answer will depend specifically on your surgeon and the hospital or surgery center you go to. Your surgeon will not be offended if you ask them this question directly. But, if it is a teaching hospital the surgery assistant, a resident or fellow, will be assisting your surgeon.
