A member asked:

Is the stapah infection related with the marsa infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Same bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus (commonly referred to as staph) is a kind of bacteria that causes multiple infections (skin, heart etc.) it is treated with antibiotics (such as penicillins) but with time and because of widespread use of antibiotics, it has become resistant to penicillin (methicillin to be more precise). Therefore, the acronym MRSA refers to methicillin resistant staph aureus.
