Stopping infections: First of all, prevention is key: wash hands, get vaccinated; antimicrobial prophylaxis when appropriate. If infection is present treatment depends on the site and the organism. Serious infection may need antimicrobial agents. Skin infection may need incision ; drainage; deep soft tissue may need surgery; foreign body removal (catheters/joints), drainage. Blood stream infection need antibiotics.
