It depends: It depends on the type of lung cancer and its stage. Generly speaking, early stage non small cell lung cancer is treated with surgery with or without chemo plus minus radiation and advanced stage non small cell lung cancer is treated with chemo plus minus radiation. Small cell lung cancer is generally treated with chemo and radiation and surgery is almost never done.
