My husband has pancreatitis. his enzyme level was over 1000 today. is this still within the normal range?

No.: If you're referring to llipase level, then this is quite high. Your husband hs pancreatitis wich means inflammation of the pancreas. The enzymes will elevated. He should be in the hspital, getting treated with IV fluids and should not be taking anything by mouth. The cause of his pancreatitis should be sought. Most commonly it is alcohol or gallstones.

Ask his doctor/nurse: The doctor whom he saw is supposed to address this question, if you asked! but the normal levels of amylase or lipase are under 100 normally(they can tell you the reference range of normal values) . But his level is quite high right now.
