A member asked:

Help: is it called pancreatitis if i have no pain but elevated liver and pancreas enzymes? (above 3x normal limit) or do you need pain to have pancreatitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Painless pancreatitis usually occurs in the chronic variety, but people with diabetes or kidney disease have been known to have acute pancreatitis without pain. I have never seen a case of acute pancreatitis without abdominal pain & tenderness. This is truly an inflammatory process.
