Get a 2nd opinion: This is impossible to answer without a personal examination of the child. However, an elevated ESR and a positive ANA give me cause for concern. I would suggest a 2nd opinion with another rheumatologist, especially a prediatric rheumatologist if one is available in your area.

Hmmm: I hate to disagree with a rheumatologist, but flat feet do not cause a positive ANA and hi sed rate. Some sort of inflammatory and/or auto-immune process is involved. Some collagen vascular diseases can have these labs and also flat feet, but the feet don't cause the abnormal labs. Maybe a rheumatology second opinion?

Have it re-evaluated: Kids may experience pain in different areas of the body during rapid growth spurts. Have it re-evaluated and get the appropriate treatment.
