Depends: This depends on what organ is being tested. If it is a cardiac echo, no prep is needed. If it is an abdominal or bladder ultrasound, you may be asked to drink a rather large amount of fluid beforehand to improve visibility of the study. If you are not sure, ask your doctor beforehand.

Nothing to worry: Echo is ultrasound of the heart. Can be done anytime and no need for any preparation.
