Complicated Question: A bmi of 29 without comorbid conditions is not an indication for gastric bypass. That being said your bmi may have some contribution to why your nissen failed. First of all i would recommend seeing a surgeon in specializes in nissen or bariatric procedures. You may just need to lose a little weight and then have repeat wrap with an esophogeal lengthening procedure.

Second surgery: Your esophagus may be the more important concern. With chronic acid reflux the esophagus can scar, form strictures and decrease its length. Okay to ask your surgeon about the current recommendations. Take a friend with you for the discussion and to help ask questions. A second opinion may be helpful for clarity.
