Abort and Prevent: The ideal solution would be to avoid any reliable triggers (common ones include foods containing the Amino Acid tyramine, red wine, sleep deprivation, and stress). Barring that, there is a wide range of medications that can help stop individual headaches, ranging from nsaids to triptan medications (e.g. Imitrex). If your headache is frequent, you may benefit from daily prophylactic treatment.

Avoid triggers: If you can learn what triggers your migraines, avoid the triggers and maybe the migraines will be reduced. This is neither easy nor exact in most cases, but can help. Track the conditions surrounding each migraine--time of day, food, medications, amount of sleep, anxiety and/or activity levels, etc.--and note the commonalities. Those are likely triggers. Avoid them and see if it helps.
