Recent crown: It is not not hopeless . Just go back to your dentist let him check for occlusion and periodontium .Especially if there were no pain before placing the crown. And mentioning that you just had a recent root canal treatment let your dentist evaluate it and to check for any peri apical pathosis.

Not yet!: I would have your dentist check your bite when you grind your teeth side to side to make sure that when your teeth are in function, they do not strike each other prematurely, or too hard. There is always an outside chance that your tooth may have a crack in it, which is hard to diagnose, and even harder to treat. If the pain does not go away after 4 weeks, seek the advice of an endodontist.

Not hopeless: It is possible that your crown is sitting little high. Have the dentist check bite and adjust the crown as needed. You may need to take some anti inflammatory meds and give the tooth few weeks.

Normal: The amount of pain and the length of time it lasts is variable and dependent on many factors. I have seen many patients with no post op pain, while others have some sort of discomfort for several months after treatment. We tell all our patients what to expect after their particular root canal! if a patient has a question or problem, they should be seen and checked.
