Pinched nerve : Pinched nerves can be painful. Heat, stretching and anti inflammatories can help. If persistent sometimes an adjustment may help as well as some physical therapy.

You need evaluation: You can try heat or ice. If it hurts to move your shoulder it could be a problem there. If it's bad enough, see your pcp or a spine physiatrist. There are a number of treatments short of surgery, such as physical therapy, chiropractic manipulations, and injections. If these fail, surgery may be indicated in which case seek the care of a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon.
