A member asked:

I am having sharp pains where my neck meets my jaw on the side, what could be the cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably neuralgia: A 30 yo male with recent bells palsy and having sharp pains behind the angle of the jaw just below the ear is most likely having some nerve pain. Some studies suggest herpes simplex type i virus as the cause of bells. Pain and nerve dysfunction may result from viral infections; e.g. Shingles. Prednisone helps to control inflammation & damage to the nerve. Taper gradually as the doctor advises.
